| Roundtables and other events The Audit Committee Institute facilitates interactive roundtables forums. The roundtables provide for the exchange of views and insights on topics of interest to board members, audit committees members and senior executives. Roundtables Held ACI Roundtable Two: Recent events have further increased the attention given to corporate governance and boards of directors are under even greater pressure to demonstrate that they have the capability to be proactive and strategically minded with regards to corporate governance issues. Boards need not only to manage their own operations with respect to governance, but also exert the right levels of influence on management and the company as a whole. Achieving better practice means creating sustainable value, in terms of board operations, stewardship, monitoring and evaluation, strategy development and corporate captive. In these endeavours, they need to involve shareholders, employees, customers, supply partners, regulators and the community as a whole. However, each company has unique characteristics, taking into account geography, industry, market, culture and the expectations of stakeholders. The incidence of various kinds of internal malpractice and misconduct is perceived as an increasing challenge to management in Thailand. Countering this business risk is essential, not only to reduce exposure to corporate liability, sanctions and litigation, but also to achieve the highest standards of business integrity through sound corporate governance, internal control and transparency. Best practice companies need to develop fraud risk management strategies to ensure prevention, detection and response.
